Hello!

My name is Henslee Rutledge Elliott

As a native Charlestonian and art instructor, my passion is fostering a strong art community! I completed my Bachelor's in Art History from Sweet Briar College in 2006. I have 17 years of experience in various local classrooms, including St. Philip's Church School, Ashley Hall, and currently The Cooper School.  I love focusing on an environment that honors each child's voice and nurtures the creative process. Our other art instructor is my husband, Van Elliott. He has his Bachelor's in Studio Art from College of Charleston and years of experience with graphic design, screenprinting, and teaching painting classes at local art studios. Van enjoys creating fun and interactive lessons for our Art camps and has mastered slime making skills. Our twin toddlers, Alden & Fulton, and pug Pearl keep us very busy!

Our story began when Henslee decided to host pop up art camps during one week of Summer break in 2018. It was such a fun way to share our love of art with local children!  We decided to start hosting art camps at our home art studio! The idea was to offer a space where children could come to learn, experiment,  and express themselves in a creative and supportive environment. Over the years, our art workshops have grown to include a diverse group of artists with varying experience levels, ages, and backgrounds. From learning the basics of drawing and painting to experimenting with different mediums, our holiday art workshops, birthday art parties, and Summer art camps provide the perfect opportunity for anyone to explore their creativity. We take pride in providing a supportive, encouraging atmosphere where students can be free to express themselves, no matter their skill level. We believe that everyone has the potential to create something beautiful, and we strive to help our students reach their goals.
